CRANKbait! Lures of Distinction
What is this about?
It’s about finding an answer to that age-old question, the one that we have all asked ourselves:
What would happen if you shipped 20 unassembled old-timey wooden fishing lure kits off to be finished by a bunch of artists?
It turns out that the answer is CRANKbait! Lures of Distinction, a group fishing lure art show that I am curating.
I hope that you enjoy the lures, and don’t be shy about adding some of this tackle to your own box.
Special Aknowlegement
In addition to all the great artists who submitted lures, I would like to thank Ragnar for doing the cool Crankbait logo illustration, which can be seen here in its original format. Thanks Coop, for posting your vintage lure collection to flickr which pushed me over the edge to lure madness. Mark, thanks for helping me rustle up great artists. Thanks Amy, for the wonderful Crehore Lure Freckled Bumblecat label original painting.

nice ! there’s some might swift & nifty lookin’ lures there ! are you accepting late entries from those who might have not sent back the lures yet ?
HEy Pat!
Of course, but honestly, I don’t expect to get a lot of stragglers.
There is one lure-maker in particular that I hope does send his lure in though. There is this fellow who is the next door neighbor to one of the
other artists, who makes actual fishing lures for fishing. He asked to be in the show, and I’m really interested to see what he does with his.
The outsider in the outsider art show.

Awesome collection of lures! You now have my full attention.
What I’d like to know is where you got the lure kits. I’ve search the InterTubes and I can’t seem to find any kits that match the one you show above. Any hints?
Erat,
I put the kits together myself. I bought all of the supplies here
Hi Steve-
I really enjoyed being in this lure show.
It’s a unique idea for an art show
with some incredibly imaginative artists.
It was actually quite hard to figure out an idea for my lure
and to paint this tiny thing, but I liked the challenge.
Thanks again, Steve.
Great Crankbait logo.
Amy
nice show!
Thanks Jason!
Obviously the Wusrt Nesting Doll Show was a big influence :)
The CRANKbait! logo is perfect! Great contribution! I’ve already bought one!
Steve,
Thanks for the link!
Cool set and great idea. What’s next?
