The technique is fine, but what kind of silicone do you use for casting tires? The one I use for moulds is too soft and elastic, it doesn't hold well on the wheel.

Slots

I've always wanted some Scalextric, but never had the money or the space. Now I want it even more so I can build custom racers from static models.

Scale -- Well, you can always get Eldon track for pretty cheap.

When choosing a new track, I went for Ninco over Scalextric. Ninco track is slightly wider than Scalextric, which allows you to run 1:24 scale cars (model conversions) as well as 1:32.

hi! great idea! but not only for slot cars!
just have one question: what do you use as release compound?

I use Smooth-on Universal mold release spray.
